JEWISH BUENOS AIRES TOUR

Duration: 4 hs

ABOUT THE Tour

Argentina, throughout its history, has become an important reference for the Jewish population all around the world, and Buenos Aires particularly, is the home of one of the most numerous and relevant Jewish communities in Latin America. The city has a vibrant community life that includes many educational centers, cultural centers, sports clubs, more than 100 synagogues, community centers, and monuments.

During the 4 hours of the tour (including pick-up and drop-off at the requested destinations), we will explore the present of this vigorous community as well as its rich history. We will visit Once, a key area where you can witness their vitality and strength. In this part of the Balvanera, neighborhood there are businesses, homes, schools, community centers, and synagogues, both Sephardic and Ashkenazi, which are a “must” in our tour to truly immerse ourselves in the day-to-day life of a community as important as this. We will also have a scheduled visit to the Templo Libertad (the oldest temple in the city) and the Jewish Museum of Buenos Aires.

We propose to deepen our look into the terrorist attack the community suffered and how resilient they showed to be to gain a real understanding of the community. For this, we will visit the facade of the new building of the AMIA (Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina in Spanish) as well as its exterior monument and the small square called Embajada de Israel or Embassy of Israel. The tour will also make stops at important memorials such as the Monumento a las Víctimas del Atentado a la AMIA, a memorial to the victims of the terrorist attack against AMIA.
